Parenting Coordination
Learn More
In high-conflict separations or divorces, parenting issues may arise more often that continue to bring parents back to court for resolution. This strategy is time-consuming and expensive. Parenting Coordination is an alternative to manage and resolve disputes.
A Parenting Coordinator is a neutral party who can assist the parents in resolving issues relating to their children. In some cases, I may be empowered by the parents or by Order of the court to make binding recommendations. If either parent feels there is sufficient reason to challenge the recommendations of the Parenting Coordinator, they still have recourse through the court.
A Parenting Coordinator cannot change a court Order but may assist parents in implementing strategies consistent with the Order.
Parents typically share fees for Parenting Coordination unless there is a prior agreement to do otherwise or a court Order specifying the distribution of fees.
I will become acquainted with the parents, the children, the history of parental conflict, and the presenting concerns. The process may include a review of court documents, meetings with the parents individually and/or jointly, and meetings with the children. Once the process is complete, I will prepare recommendations.
